Saturday evening local news (NBC-Channel 4) reported that a diver was missing from his kayak at Bluff Cove in PV...nothing else was ever reported...does anybody know anything...?

My guess was that somebody reported a kayak with some dive gear on board and they started a search...the diver then ended his/her dive and returned to his kayak to a lot of commotion...

I was out Sat. am in the area. The coast gaurd stopped us and asked if we were missing a kayak. Here is the info I've seen so far:

Empty kayak off coast leads to search

Teams from several agencies searched the waters off Palos Verdes Estates early Saturday after an empty kayak was found floating nearby.

Believing the passenger may have fallen out, helicopters, boats, dive teams and other personnel scoured the coastline near the 1600 block of Paseo del Mar, but the search was called off later in the day after it was discovered that the craft had been in the water for several days, authorities said.

"Around 5:30 a.m., someone found the kayak drifting off Palos Verdes Point," said U.S. Coast Guard Chief Warrant Officer Scott Epperson.

In addition to the Coast Guard, searchers included the Redondo Beach Harbor Patrol and county lifeguards, Epperson said.

"We're just searching for someone possibly in the water," he said.

Rescuers found insulin inside the kayak, which led them to think the owner may have had a diabetic episode, said David Carolan with the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

Identification found in the craft belongs to a 68-year-old man. Officials did not release his name.

The man's car was later discovered at King Harbor in Redondo Beach. Co-workers told authorities he was at work Wednesday but hadn't seen him since, Carolan said.

When a witness told authorities the kayak had been spotted in the water on Thursday, they decided to call off the intensive search, Epperson said.
