Daily Limit

One of the things listed in the California Dept of Fish and Game rules says often is "daily limit". Is that based on Sunrise and Sunset, Calendar, 24 hour clock,... ??? I couldnt find its definition. Could somebody show me where this is defined?

Section 35 of the Fish and Game Code. Day means calendar day, unless otherwise shortened by other restrictions.
