Hi All -

I am headed to Catalina on Tuesday for a week of shore diving, anyone know what the predictions are calling for as far as weather and dive conditions? We will be diving at Casino Point and Descanso, how has the visibility been lately? I did see one weather report calling for possible thunderstorms on Monday and Tuesday, I hope this won't affect conditions too badly.

Is it safe to leave personal items unattended while you are diving during the week?

I am also getting conflicting info. from the dive shops as to whether or not the fill station at Casino Point will be open during the week of Sept. 4th. Anyone have any info. on this?

Thanks in advance!

I was there Thursday. Surface temps were 75 Aeris degrees F ( yes, 75!!! ). There were a number of snorkelers without wetsuits, all having lots of fun. Thermocline dropped it to about 66. Very nice conditions, about 20-30 foot viz, minor if any current or surge.

There were probably less than 12 divers there all day, nice and empty. I have a feeling this weekend is probably a zoo.

The fill shack is no longer open during the week after this weekend; however the guys said if a large group/class shows up, they will often open for a few hours.

There were plenty of lockers available, at $.75 per use. Your call as to whether to use them - I didn't.

I would thou be concerned about the storm down in Cabo, and how it will effect conditions up here.

Conditions are good right now. Water is 72-75 F at surface. However, the swell from the hurricane should be hitting us this coming week. There is rain forecast, possibly thunderstorms (but maybe not here).
