This event is hosted by the Los Angeles County Dept. Parks and Recreation Underwater Unit. There is a minimal fee of $30 per person which covers food and a special commemorative t-shirt.

Divers' Safety Day is a day to learn about what you can do to make diving safer, in preventing or having to respond to a diving emergency. Panel discussions with industry experts and public safety personnel, as well as demonstrations will be given. A continental breakfast, seminar packet, sack lunch, and special commemorative T-shirt will be provided.

Panel participants include industry experts: Dr. Glen Egstrom, Karl Huggins, Ken Kurtis, US Coast Guard pilot, L.A. County F.D.L.G. Captain, and Long Beach F.D.L.G.

Demonstrations by: Public Safety Divers and US Coast Guard.

On Display: US Coast Guard helicopter, L.A. County Baywatch boat and L.A. County Sheriff jet boat.

Booth participants include: L.A. Co. UIA, US Coast Guard, L.A. County F.D.L.G. Dive Team, Long Beach F.D.L.G. Dive Team, L.A. Co. Sheriff Dive Team, L.A.P.D. Dive Team, L.A. Harbor Patrol and Dive Team, Long Beach P.D. Dive Team, GLACD, NAUI, and local dive shops.

The morning session will include registration, a continental breakfast, a demonstration by the Long Beach Lifeguards, and a panel discussion on diver emergency response.

After a lunch break, the afternoon session will include a panel discussion on diver emergency prevention and public safety personnel response, and demonstrations by the Los Angeles County Lifeguards and the U.S. Coast Guard.

Location: Cabrillo Beach Youth Waterfront Sports Center 3000 Shoshonean Rd., San Pedro, CA 90731

Directions: Take the 110 (Harbor) freeway south to Gaffey Street. Take Gaffey Street south to 22nd Street in San Pedro; turn left (east) and go to Via Cabrillo Marina and turn right. Proceed to the parking lot adjacent to the Youth Center. Just look for the signs.

Registration is limited to the first 300 people
