Looks like we are going to have a good time!
Anyone else want to join the fun?
Join us Saturday, October 11th at the Casino Dive Park.
(You might even get to meet the famous Dr.Bill!)

Is Catalina on the BC schedule anytime soon?

Keep in mind that this is one of the weekends that JazzTrax is happening so boat and hotel reservations may be hard to come by.

Diving, new and old friends plus live jazz!! Sounds like the makin's for a real good time!

DrBill: "If Sarah Palin is qualified to be V.P. of the United States, I'm qualified to be Imperial Emperor of the Universe."

I'll vote for you, Bill.

Bill, We may have to have a special election after November! But shouldn't be Dr. Imperial Emperor of the Universe? :rofl3:

How many dives do you normally make when you go to Catalina? For nearly the price of a boat dive (in ferry fees and fills), is the dive park worth it? As you can tell, I've never been there...

Personally, I get in about four before my normal buddies run out of steam and have to go recharge at the bar relating tall tales of the sea to anyone who will listen.

The park is a great easy way to dive. Couple small, neat wrecks to check out. Tons of marine life and kelp. As for depth, you can find 5fsw down to at least 115fsw over near the Sujack. Well...115fsw if you try to swim back to Long Beach from the Sujack...

But, I like going there for the ambiance and the relaxing day. Get a few dives in, lunch at the Cantina there at the Point, couple more dives in, then shower and go stroll the main drag and wind up at the Galleon for dinner and the Karaoke show!

We get in 3 to 4 dives.
Well lets see, a typical dive boat takes 2 ½ - 3 hours each way to Catalina. That’s 6 hours of travel time vs 2 hours on the ferry. That extra four hours can be used for extra dives and surface intervals of your choosing. I like the park.

Wish I could join you all.

Alas, it's a bit too much of a drive for me.

Have a great dive. I really enjoyed my Catalina dives and am looking forward to the next opportunity to travel down there again.
