I am planning a trip to Two Harbors, Catalina Island and was considering Memorial Day weekend. I have never been to that side of the island. I imagine Avalon is a zoo that weekend, but can anybody tell me what Two Harbors is like?

thank-you

Two Harbors is a really nice spot. You can easily walk to the backside of the island via the isthmus. You can kayak to the Wrigley Marine Institute, which is a great little cove for diving. On the way there you can kayak through some small sea caves and overhangs. There is a general store, restaurant/bar and bathroom/shower facilities. Its a great spot to go for a day or a weekend. If you want to do more then one scuba dive then I don't know if they have air fill facilities, for that your better off going to Avalon and enjoy Casino Point underwater park.

The two Harbors dive & Recreation Center does air fills, tank rentals, and boat trips. (make sure you leave plenty of time for the fill, their compressor is slooooooow.) The best diving on the island is near Two Harbors IMHO.

Just a note- the area around Wrigley is a preserve, you'll need permission for the Dive Safety Officer (Gerry Smith) to dive there.

And while not nearly as bad as Avalon it will be a Zoo on the holiday weekend as well.

There is a large campground next to town and one small B&B- You need to make reservations early for holidays.

Express only has one boat a day there most of the year- none on Tuesdays & Thursdays.

Good to know.

Glad I didn't get caught. Thanks for the heads up, next time I'll make sure to ask permission first. How would I go about contacting him?

Thank-you all for the replies! I think I will look into the camp ground and see how busy they are, should give me a good indication of how much a zoo it is.

I have been a lurker for a year, just never had much to post about yet :)
