Taking a trip down to LA for St. Patrick's Day and I'm going to Avalon for a dive. Anyone been lately that can tell me how the temps and viz are?

I heard it was a bit warmer than normal.

This will be my second dive there and I'm looking forward to it.

Was there over Christmas and it was great.

I may get in before you get here. Temperatures all winter were running above normal, although they've dropped slightly over the last week or so. Vis was 40-50 ft outside the training area this past weekend and I was hearing temps ranging from 54 to 58 at depth.

FWIW, did a night dive last night, on the wall at Black Rock (other end of the island), and it was outrageous. The water was 62 on the surface, 60 at depth (80fsw), the moon was out, and at 80 feet we could clearly see the ripples on the surface with the moon coming through. Water was very blue, too. I was n a 7mm, and very comfortable.

Sounds badass.

I didn't get in yet but the reports suggest what muzikbiz22 experienced. Good visibility (probably 40-50 ft in the dive park) with relatively warm temps.

A bunch of us were there the 4th thru the 9th and it was great diving. Had a blast and cant wait to go back.
