Date: 20th July 2014
Location: Richardson's Rock, San Miguel Island
Temp: High 50-Fs
Viz: 20-ft horizontal at depth
Current: None
Depth: 90-ft

Glad to hear the viz got better. We were there Friday 7/18 and 20ft would have been the best spots inside the cove at Prince Island. Temps and the rest were the same.

viz at Canyons and Castle Rock were a bit better and temp was about the same: mid to high 50-Fs.

Based on some other reports I've been receiving, I expected the visibility to be better and the water temp to be higher.

San Miguel is well off the coast, and north of the So Cal normal dive sites, so subject to the upwelling of the California Current which keeps it colder. The next day at Santa Cruz island the temps were 6-8 degrees warmer and viz was better against the island.

Looks like there is a swell is moving in to cloud up our visibility a little bit. 2'-4' swell expected by the weekend which will bring with it some current and surge. On shore forecast looks gloomy. Offshore should remain good with little surge and water clouding.

If you have a dive report let me know and I will give you and or your business / club credit on my website and social media pages.
