I'm in San Diego on a quick trip and had reservations to go on the Humboldt tomorrow morning. We just got back to our hotel and I have email saying they are cancelling the trip tomorrow. We lugged all of our dive gear down here from Monterey and this is our one chance. We would really like to get out to the Yukon. The swell forecast I see barely mentions ankle-biters, so I can only guess Waterhorse Charters simply didn't get enough people to sign up for tomorrow. Anyway, does anybody know of any other alternative for Saturday? We are dying to get in the water, and I really don't care if it is raining.

Have you checked Lois Ann? Marissa lists a private charter on Saturday.

You always have the option of beach diving at La Jolla Shores & La Jolla Cove. It's a short drive from San Diego to La Jolla. If you need tanks, House of Scuba is right on the way.

Of course, you could drive up to Dana Point, catch the ferry to Santa Catalina and dive Casino Point. Dana Point isn't far from San Diego.

According to Greg at Whitehorse Charters, Lois Ann and Marissa have also cancelled for today. So I guess it's shore diving or nothing. I don't know a thing about shore diving around San Diego. I take it from a comment above the best shore diving is at La Jolla? We're going to try to find a dive shop after the sun comes up and get some directions. That's better than nothing, but I do that every week up in Monterey. I was hoping for something new here.

La Jolla is a good place to do beach diving. House of Scuba is near the freeway you'll be on if you head for La Jolla. I've enjoyed the HOS folks and they dive the La Jolla area.

Another option would be to check with Power Scuba to see if they have any dives scheduled in La Jolla this weekend. Power Scuba isn't a shop. Its a non-profit scuba club. You should be able to find them on the internet. It's a very active club in the La Jolla area.

divebums.com has almost everything about LaJolla if you're still reading this...
