A friend has been witnessing the repeat visit of poachers south of El Matador State Beach. That is Marine Reserve yet the two characters in the attached pictures seem to come over and help themselves to some of the protected population. Although innocent until proven guilty, jumping off a boat carrying a spear gun in an MPA is a bit blatant. They only left because they noticed our friend taking pictures.

I love hunting but that is shoving it in the face of legit hunters who go into great pains to reach the legal catch...For those that know these people, just let them know that they are not welcomed at Pt. Dume.

I am sure they tell all their friends about their "secret spot" ;-)

The friend that took the pictures in front of his house (confirmed to be in the Marine Reserve) has reported it. I posted it here in case anyone recognizes these guys

Kudos to your friend for reporting it and you for posting it here

I sent the link to this thread to DFW. This was their reply;

Thanks for the information. I have forwarded the information you provided to the area supervisor for further investigation.

Thanks for your support,
Mike

The pictures came from Facebook. When I talked to our friend today who took the pictures, I gave him phone numbers for the local F&G guys. In the past, I was told if all else fails, call 9-1-1 and they will connect to the same F&G number the CALTIP hotline goes to.

We appreciate the information and pictures regarding the MPA near El Matador. If you would like, I can fill you in on the details of the closure. Feel free to give me a call on my cell 805-804-7646
