Many of you knew SCUBA instructor and dive boat captain Tim Mitchell who worked for SCUBA Luv here on Catalina, and that he passed away on the night of December 30th while working as a harbor patrolman trying to rescue the dive boat King Neptune and other vessels and persons. A celebration of life in his honor will be held this coming Thursday on the island:

#1 dive buddy Andrea is coming over today for the celebration of life. She certified Tim OW, AOW, Rescue and DM when they lived in New Zealand

Tim's memorial and celebration of life was absolutely incredible. Some estimated as many as 700 people at the dive park for the tribute. So many firefighters, sheriffs, harbor patrol and divers in attendance. Our friend Chris Blehm gave a very moving eulogy that had tears flowing from my eyes... if tears were freshwater, I could have solved our drought-related water problem. The flotilla of boats to the Little Farnsworth dive site where Tim's ashes were scattered was unbelievable. In addition to the 40-50 vessels present, helicopters from the Coast Guard, LA County Sheriff and LA County Fire flew overhead in tribute. The reception was well attended as well and featured several different bands. After it ended, dive buddy Andrea and I sat up at the house drinking wine and talking about Tim and their time both in New Zealand (where she certified Tim OW, AOW, Rescue and DM) and here on Catalina until well after midnight.

I have posted a few pictures of the day's events on my Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/bill.bushi...723672751.1073741871.11616&type=1&pnref=story

Thanks Bill, Phil's right, I wanted to ask for pics too...I'm F/B but a "big share" for all the o'hana is respected I trust?.....RIP watermen ;~)

All my photos are public, but only for members of Facebook. Facebook used to have a way to share pages including photo albums with non-members but they did away with that apparently. Too tedious for me to re-post on several sites due to the number of photos. Sorry.

Was just informed how to share my FB albums with non-members. Here are the links to the albums:
