Heard a report that there was a mud slide at casino point and you could only get to the dive park by water taxi which would not take scuba tanks. Don't know if it is true or not. But if you plans include Catalina this weekend, perhaps it would be good to verify.

Hopefully our resident expert on Catalina Dr. Bill will update us.

Is the mud slide cleared off the road to the dive park?

If not, does the water taxi that is running you over to the dive park accept scuba tanks (I really can not imagine they would not. After all SCUBA is a good source of income for the island.)?

How is the visibility in the water.?

Dr. Bill gave a partial reply to this in the Casino Point thread. Apparently it's true, and they're saying the road won't be open this weekend.

And the gentleman who answered indicated that tanks were acceptable. That doesn't mean that the boat captain will necessarily agree, or that the policy won't change by morning. Time will tell...given all the obstacles, I must be desperate to get wet.

As of 3:30 pm the road was not open, but it is expected to be opened up tomorrow.

The shoreboat will accept SCUBA gear. Only two divers that I'm aware of in the park today (Fri). Conditions were reported as 20-25 ft vis.

Thanks for the report Dr. Bill.
