I may be visiting Catalina Island next month and am wondering if anyone knows whether or not there are any solo diving restrictions there; more specifically, Casino Point.

I think Dr. Bill just answered my question.

Pulled from another thread:
drbill:
While there are a number of tech divers in our state who use doubles with isolation manifolds and slung pony bottles (and usually buddies as well), there are probably many more divers who dive solo with just a pony (anyone diving solo at depths greater than 40' without a pony bottle is an idiot IMHO... and I was one more than once).

Based on my personal experience and statistics, my solo diving is 20X safer than when I'm buddied up. I'm glad that boats here allow us that freedom. However, I generally only dive solo in my own neighborhood (Catalina) and greatly prefer having a buddy in other parts of SoCal.

Is it safe to assume, then, that there are no "no solo" ordinances there as well?

No ordinances to my knowledge. BTW: unless it is an aboration, there will be lots of divers in the water at Casino Point.

Solo diving is fine, even on the boats (at least the King Neptune).

Thankyou, gentlemen. That is as it should be. Makes life a whole lot easier. I appreciate the responses.
I may have more questions as the time draws near, like- has anyone had any trouble with dive knives on board the shuttle ferries since 9/11? Little things like that which may be good to know beforehand, but belong in a different forum catagory!
And, yes, I have seen the Catalina Island sticky, but it's been a while and I'd better go reread it now for any updated additional information.
Thanks again.
