My wife and I went diving in San Andres, Colombia recently, enjoyed the diving there, the water was very clear and a lot of coral reef to see. The water wasn't too cold or hot, just a cool feeling. We saw puffer fish, a lionfish, an underwater eel and various other fish. We also hired a guide to take some video and pictures if anyones interested. Also it had just rained before we went down but the water was still really clear.

Dive cost about $60.00 per person, San Andres is closer to Central America but part of Colombia, there are so many different dive spots on san andres and neighboring island providence that I can only imagine what the other sights look like.e

Thanks for fixing the video, now I am not sure if this belongs in South America or Central America. Colombia is a South American country but I just realized that San Andres is located off the coast of Nicaragua although Colombia does own the island.

San Andrés is a nice place, I have been there twice and liked it very much. Very relax place.

My wife and I just got back from a week diving in San Andres and what I can only describe as some of the most enjoyable dives we've had in the last few years.
Good variety of reef and wall dives, not a lot of life but that's generally true of anywhere in the Caribbean compared to what we would see 10 years ago. Some dead coral from a high water temperature period they had a couple of years back but even so the reefs are in excellent condition with a lot of mushroom coral formations and some huge sponges both shallow and on the walls below 40m.
You say you had a cool feeling but I see in your videos and photos that you had a lot of exposed flesh, so not surprising.
In fact my computer records a very constant 27C throughout all of our dives independent of whether we were on the reefs at 12m or on the walls at 40m+. The only exception was the dive we did in the caverns at West View. Temperature was an absurd 31C and even though we were under for well over 1hour I had my full length 3mm totally unzipped.
In fact I was very surprised to see very few broken corals & sponges in the caverns and swim-throughs compared to other sites in the Caribbean. It's clear that the number of divers is still pretty low.
Who did you dive with?
We dove with Nelson at Divers Team based at the Decameron Aquarium although we stayed at the Decameron San Luis further down the coast. Service was first class. Nelson has 2 fast boats, only 15 - 20 mins to get to the other end of the island. Some days we were doing the SI between dives on the pier at the hotel, others we went out with both cylinders and stopped for the SI at a cove where he served a snack.
No stress at the end of the dives of everyone having to stick together. We just popped our SMBs for the deco/safety stops as required and surfaced in small groups and the boat would come and pick us up.

why is everyone holding hands? was this a discover session?

wondered about the hand holding also! It may be a way to reduce the anxiety level of inexperienced divers or perhaps just new friends!

Whether San Andres is a Central or South American dive site is an interesting question (to me anyway). I know some folks assign a dive site to the continent the country that owns it is located on. For example, the Canary Islands are referred to as European even though they are off the coast of Africa.
