I would like to announce the arrival of a brand new resource for scuba divers, called Scupedia! For those familiar with Wikipedia, an encyclopedia in which the community can participate, this is the same idea for scuba divers, about scuba subjects.
If you have a diving subject that you are well familiar with, and wish to share with the diving community, this will be the place to enter it. The service is free for both contributors and readers.
Entries must be fact oriented, and will be fact-checked by the community, so accuracy, brevity, and spelling count!
Glad to see there is a need and a will to make this happen. So much of a need, it seems two groups started the same thing at around the same time. We have http://www.wikiscuba.com online right now (have been working at getting it up and running since november). I don't think two completely independent wikis serving the same purpose is the best situation.
Still, I'm glad to see that people are interested. I think either project or, really, both (combined?) have a potential to become something quite useful.
BTW, were you hacked? Or did you install a web content manager with default information included?
Some of your links are a bit... odd.
For example, clicking the General SCUBA Info category yields such results as: kodak instamatic movie camera bondage breast auction car hairstyles kathy smith ultimate video workout prada shoes wholesale sitemap shell gas credit card juliana theory videos
The Cave Diving, Wreck Diving, DIR, Diving equipment, Dive Computers, Gas laws and rules, Dive skills, Diver training agency, Free diving, and Underwater photography categories are similarly filled with spam.
yes, this thread is a few years old and it seems there's been nothing but spam on scupedia for a while now. The pages you're referring to are standard wiki spam that one gets. A similar site that's still maintained (I'll disclose that I started it with another diver) is at WikiScuba - The Scuba Diving Community Collaborative Wiki Project, encyclopedia and reference Slow growth, but we're trying.
