I have 2 PST HP 120s that I bought new late last Fall. I have not used them (been out of the country). I have been following the new E-Series with interest and am wondering whether or not it might be worth trying to swap these unused HP-120s for either the E7-120s or E8-130s.

I am trying to simplify my equipment somewhat. Apart from the benefit of being able to use either Din or yoke config., the new standardized valve (3/4 vs HPs old 7/8) would mean that all my steel tanks would be the same neck size and thus I could possibly get away with 1 set of modular valves/ manifold system. I could swap it between sets should I wish to double-up my 100s or 120/130's.

To date most of my diving has been Great Lakes, St. Lawrence, Florida and Philippines and Mediteranean. I now live in NJ and look forward to diving the NE coast (wrecks). I am 6'3" 210.

I would really appreciate hearing from people whether you think it makes sense to swap my current new HP120s for the new E-series and what size tanks you'd recommend for this enviroment (NJ/NorthEast ocean wreck dives).

Thank you very much!

Semper Fi,
Jon

I think that it is a non-issue, aside from choice of manifolds. Once people build a set of doubles, it is not common to break it down to swap the manifild between tanks. People usually just get two manifolds and leave them built up.

As well, once you have determinied if you are going to be yolk/din, it is unlikely that you will ever switch to the other on a whim for a dive or two, barring travel/rental considerations, in which case you won't be bringing your tanks anyway.

IMHO, unless you get really really good trade values on your HP120's, it isn't worth trading them in for the latest and greatest version of the tanks.
