I'm about to buy a tank with a J valve. I understand, that if you leave the lever in down position, it'll work like a K valve. Am I right? Is that (the reserve shut off) the only difference between those two? Is there any difference in servicing them etc.?
I'm pretty sure about what the J valve is, but curious about the servicing part.

Thanks in advance

If the lever is down, it acts just like a K valve. No worries there.

I couldn't talk about servicing, etc. I would just buy a new valve - you can get a new valve for between $25 and $40 without any problems.

You'd buy a new valve just because it is J valve, or if it needed servicing?

Thanks,
