Does anyone know if LP steel tanks rated 2400+ are filled to there stated volume at 2400 or 2640(2400 + 10%).

In other words, does an LP85 have 85cf at 2400psi or at 2640psi.

I have had "experts" at LDS argue both sides of this.

Does it vary by company?

The stated capacity of steel tanks is with the plus rating. So after 5 years your tank will be lower capacity. However many people fill LP steel tanks to 3000, rated or not, so for them it's a moot point.

Yes.

No, no, no, no, no.

Let me put that another way:

Wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong.

Hoy many times does this have to be put down?

You can get a + rating for applicable steel cylinders for as long as the cylinder passes the additional calculations required for the + rating, which is something that any good hydro shop can do for you.

Most dive shops have no idea about the + rating, so never bring your LP steels to them for a hydro.

For one of the MANY writeups on the + rating.
