The tanks are doubles with a J-valve

If you were in the USA I would say 3/4" but being in Belgium M25 x 2 comes to mind.

M25 and M25x2 are straight threads, aren't they?
Well, as far as my eye can see, this thread is not straight...
3/4 was my first idea too...
The problem is, when I look at new 3/4 valves, the o-ring is not in a groove like the original valves resulting in the valves not being against the neck of the tank.

It is not the thread that is straight but the body that the threads are cut into. That is a straight threaded valve. Here is an example:

As for the grove that is interesting as typically the grove is in the cylinder. Does your cylinder have a grove for the o-ring?

so after a long time, I found the chance to have a look at the cylinders...no groovy grove...
would it be possible to get a grove made in the cylinder neck?

    thanks!

Hopefully this week I'll have time to give my "tank supervisor" a visit and I'll ask if if would be possible to bore a groove in the tanks (jup, I've got 2 of them (originally a D11.6 )
If it works out ok, I'll have a complete modular set (got a manifold for the new L and R valves)

    Wish me luck guys!!
oh yeah, just to illustrate the situation:

It would help if we knew under which regulatory authority these cylinders were made.
