I'm confused, how does getting NASCAR fans into diving benefit scuba divers? What's the connection between NASCAR and SCUBA?
More beer can related dive gear

Dennis, this one is too simple. The expansion of research and development of new products, the economies of scale for equipment cost reduction, continued innovation in new product releases, and the health of scuba retailing are all tied to an ever increasing number of scuba divers. I realize that some people would just as soon shut the door closed, especially since they are already in, and don't see the need for the sport to expand. This is a narrow view. For this sport to expand and prosper, we need new divers.
I don't know that NASCAR will help bring new participants to scuba diving. I do know that it is better than not doing anything. NASCAR has more live viewer partiicpation than any sport in the United States. The fans a fairly brand loyal. This team and this driver could well be one of the up and comers in the sport. Personally, I think the potential exists for this to be a good way to promote this sport to a large number of people that have the economic resources to participate.

Excellent Question: It doesn't benefit scuba divers..... However, asked in a different way: How does scuba divers benefit from NASCAR? Your voice, your brand, your driver, your car. Displaying your loved sport of diving and feeling the pride of your team compete. (priceless)
The relation between Scuba Diving and NASCAR ; we want to pull the NASCAR fan base into our industry to expand, in diver training, equipment sales, travel, etc. A lot of people have made the love of diving their buisness and need to grow to succeed in buisness and continue their passion in life.
Thanks, Ray Sr.
I tend to agree with Ray. We have a lot of NASCAR fans come dive with us during the Homestead races. Divers and NASCAR fans have a lot more in common than people may think. Keep the buzz up Ray, there's a lot of passion in both sports and an excitement to be had in both.

I would also add that Ray Black Sr. and the Team Scuba effort need financial support. While I am not a rabid stock car fan, I do know that it costs a lot of money. They are doing this in a first class way....this is not going to be some broken-down privateer effort on the Bush East series. This, from all appearances, is a classy team, employing the latest science and engineering knowledge to car construction and maintenance, and campaigning in a serious way. Ray's kid is FAST and appears to display some really serious talent. Unless something happens out of the ordinary, you will see Ray Jr. running the Nextel Cup series in a few years.
Some people view financial support of an effort like this as "paying for the Black families recreation". It probably is a little bit of that. But it is MORE about expanding the number of scuba divers, an idea that is good for all of us.
Disclosure: I don't know Ray Sr. or Ray Jr., I have never been to his commercial diving school, I have never seen the race car in person, I have no connection with any of this. What I DO know is a good thing when I see it.
I've lived in Washington State and Idaho my whole life, although I've traveled a bit I can honestly say I have never seen a Nascar race and possibly I've never seen even a real Nascar car.
I don't know if it will help SCUBA but at least I'll look for the scuba car on ESPN if racing is on.
Hi, Everyone! We received our annual mailing from Our World Underwater and was thrilled to see the ad for teamscuba.com. I climbed online this morning and...here I am! As a NASCAR fan, I'm thrilled. Please know that there are a lot of NASCAR fans who don't fit the unflattering profiles that follow the sport. If you are ever near a NASCAR event, check out the rows of fans' expensive motorhomes, 5th wheels, etc....folks, those take $$...and there's a lot of $$ at NASCAR events. I'm happy to see this venture. I hope it's a long and successful affiliation! I sure hope you'll be racing in IL, MI or WI this year. I'd love to see you in person. Ray Black sounds like a real go-getter! Go Team Scuba! Drive fast and turn LEFT!
