I did the IANTD Adv Nitrox in 1999. Don't think its changed much since then. You can do it with a large capacity single tank, but you are better off doing it on twins. If you are just doing it to fulfill a pre-requisite for a CCR course then don't bother getting twins. Otherwise, go for the twins, better in the long run. You'll need a deco tank, I use a 7 litre (or two) on my dives, but you could get away with a 5 litre, or maybe even a 3 litre, depending on the amount of deco you'll be doing of course.
