Probably because black is the predominant color available for most of the equipment . So the answer is tradition. But if you would like to change that, it could be a great new opportunity.
And I always thought they had a hang up about going around like Darth Vader. I'm starting to go tech, but as you can see my drysuit isn't all black. I like to be seen!
