Naui tech standard pocket content

Hi,,
What is the standard within Naui for pocket content.
Is it following the dir (GUE)standard our has it got its own standard.

Utility items in the left pocket and safety items in the right pocket?

pre rigged spool and smb left pocket
xtra double enders left pocket
wet notes right pocket
back up mask right pocket
back up spool right pocket

Please advise.

I did my course with the same setup as GUE has, which is also what my instructor used. However I don't think it's set it stone. I was told how he stowed it and why and was allowed my own choice after that. The only requirement was that the team agreed. I think the content has a minimum standard on what to bring but no requirements regarding placement.

I'm not a NAUI instructor so take what I say with a grain of salt, if someone more knowledgeable chips in listen to them instead.

There are no standard pocket contents for NAUI tech. The team should know where all the resources for the dive are. It is easier to remember location if all the team has the same contents. My philosophy has always been; things I need in an emergency should be easy to get to. So for me, a backup mask and a safety spool go on my right. This pocket is free from deco bottles, leashes, etc. So access may be quicker. The left pocket contains things that I may need for the dive, but it doesn’t matter if it takes a few extra seconds to get it. My left pocket contains things like a pre-rigged SMB, extra double ender, jump spools, etc. It depends on what kind of dive it is (open ocean, lake, cave, wreck). I keep my wet notes in my right because I access them a lot and it just easier to pull them out while I swim.

Like Scott said, It's really a matter of preference for the diver. I have a dive buddy that is left handed, and he likes to keep his wetnotes in his left pocket. Mask, double ender etc.. he keeps in his right. He is currently not making dives that require him to carry a stage (other than a 40cf AL of o2), so it's not in his way.

Again, whatever floats your boat.
