Just picked up a Hollis HTS harness, already have a wing for it. It did not come with any weight pockets. I see the HTS quick release weight pockets are about $150 (wow)

I also see weight pockets that velcro to the 2" web belt for a whopping $11 each. Is there any advantage to using the magical, super expensive hollis weight pockets ?

Not only that but these cheaper weight pockets are very small and streamlined.

I use them and they work fine. Pull the Velcro, pop the weight up and out from the bottom.

Those XS ones are only going to give you about 5lbs max of hard weight each, so you need to consider that. Outside of that, if you practice and are comfortable with pulling the flap and pulling the weight out underwater, I'd spend $22 and call it good. Or maybe just wear a $7 weight belt that I can ditch.

I have a set of the XS weight pockets on my tank bands. They work great, I've never had a problem with them. If you are diving warm water, a SS plate and a few pounds in these as trim weights is probably all you will need.

Even if you need more weight for a dry suit, it doesn't all have to be ditchable.

Very true. I have no ditchable weight for mine. I was more talking about him only needing 10lbs.

Wait until you are in a drysuit, it will be a different matter :).

Yep...with AL80 and a regular BCD.

I only need 6lbs to dive dry with a SS plate and a single Faber FX100 tank.

I need to get smaller weight pockets as the Dive Rite 16lb are a bit too big to hold a single 3lb weight -- the pocket comes out and they hang by the buckle. Not really ideal. I may try a couple of those smaller dive rite pockets, as I like the buckle vs velcro.
