Although I have been on ScubaBoard for quite some time, this will be my first post in any sort of official capacity, so let me introduce myself:

My name is Chris Ledford and I am the Diving Safety Officer and Artificial Reef Specialist for the Texas Parks and Wildlife Artificial Reef Program.

I am currently compiling a list of diving operators along the Texas coast, and would love some help from my fellow swamp divers to create as complete a list as possible.
Professionally , I am doing it for a couple reasons: First, it will be a step in establishing the extent of “loss” due to the Deepwater Horizon spill, and second we would like to figure out how the artificial reefs in Texas are being used. We can get decent fishing data, but diving information is much harder to come by. A list of operators would be helpful for both of these objectives.
Personally, I just think we should have a running list of people that are willing to take divers out diving.

So if you have any additions or updates to the following list, please let me know, or post below.

Thank you,

Chris Ledford

Thanks Moonglow. But to clarify, I'm looking for dive BOAT operators. That key word apparently got left out of my original post!

Native Texan II is here in Florida with me, Copelands no longer has a dive boat AFAIK, and Just for Divers is a loose club.

For your first official post I think it is a good one! Thanks for the information!

I vote to sticky this at the top, and thanks to Chris!

Thanks for the updates so far.

Frank, does Native Texan ever get back here or are they permanently in Florida? Do you know when they left?

Ken's daughter lives in Baytown, so he goes back to visit, but I haven't seen the boat in the water in a few years. He is the Captain of the Turks and Caicos Explorer full time, so he does not run charters in Texas anymore.
