hey y'all, if you live in the D/FW area, who do you use to service your regs?

I've used 2 different dive shops in Dallas the past 2 years, and not totally convinced the job got done either time.

Not mentioning any names, but I took them to Scuba Toys last year and Dive West this year. The guy at Dive West said that the same guy services both those stores.

my reg has had a small leak in the second stage, and it wasn't fixed either last year or this year. for some reason it didn't leak at the store when I picked it up, at Dive West this year, (at least he did hook it up, ST didn't even give me that service last year), but for sure, the first day out on the boat, it was leaking.

I live in the mid-cities & work in Dallas, will pretty much take it to anyone in the D/FW area that will actually do the job,

thankx!

scubatoys. I have mailed my regs to them many times!

Take it back and have them make the adjustments. It is pretty simple and they should be able to get it turned around pretty quick. I totally get where you are coming from.

A bit surprising. Gordon at DW has very good customer service as does Joe and Larry at Scubatoys. Did you talk to them about the issue?

The reg service at ST has always been thorough for me. Call/drop in and talk with them about it...please post a follow up with the results. I'm interested in how they handle the issue.

Gordon and Brandi have been very good since I've been going back to D.W., I'll drop by and talk with them about it.

Gordon told me that the same guy who does the actual servicing for them is the same guy who does it for ScubaToys, and is pretty much the only person in Dallas doing it and he is looking to retire and looking for someone to train or is currently training someone to replace him.

Take them to Robert Mitchell @ Blue Sea Adventures in Garland. Besides being a reg tech, he also owns the shop. Smart feller.
I'm always leary of shops that farm anything out... I prefer to talk face to face with the guy (or gal) that is working on my stuff!

Ask to see the bag with all the parts that were replaced. There should be quite a few orings plus some low pressure seats and most likely a high pressure seat as well.

If they won't show you the parts, you don't really know if they actually did a real service and not an inspection and lubrication.

If they do show you the parts, how do you know they came from your regulators?//

So you still don't know what they actually did.

The bag of parts should come with a detailed explanation from the reg. tech including anything that looked suspect, variation in IP settings, corroded parts, bent parts, etc.
