Boosting the signal from a FGBNMS email:

"A little over a week ago, Deep Sea News writer and shark ecologist Al
Dove tracked a whale shark to a rather unexpected place. Instead of
cruising of the coast of Yucatan, Mexico, this plucky, intrepid
wanderer pinged in from Fort Worth, Texas, nearly 300 miles from the
nearest ocean. So how did this whale shark make it all the way inland?

It obviously didn’t, but its tag did. The shark, likely a female named
Lucy, is part of Dr. Dove’s whale shark tagging program. The
detachable tags used to track whale shark migration occasionally pop
off and wash ashore. Someone must have found this tag and may have
tossed it in their trunk and forgotten about it. These tags aren’t
cheap, and Al wants his back. If you live in the Dallas/Fort Worth
area and recognize this commute, get in touch with Dr. Dove and help
him recover the tag!
