have had some probs with my zoom lens for a couple dives
did two dives this weekend and when i pulled the camera out of the housing the zoom lens fell apart inside :06:

Where is the best place to have it fixed ???????????????

I think just to add Pain to the camera loss
The next dive i had a 4 foot ray swim under me twice and two green morays with in 3 feet of me
One swam by and grinned at me

I could feel him saying "" bet you wish you had a camera"

I think of digicams as having a limited life span. Time to move on, sell the housing on eBay and upgrade to the 8080.

Try calling Oly as suggested. They usually do not have 4040 refurbs to replace yours. They may suggest an upgrade which won't help you with the PT-010 housing. If you can't work out a solution with Oly you can find C4000Z refurbs online for as low as $199.00. I have two of them. It is a lesser feature version of the 4040 but still a 4MP camera and the price is right. It fits in your housing. You can't beat the price.

I have a e-mail into Olympus asking for a rough guess on repairs
and now have been thinking of getting another camera to have as a backup.
what does the 4040 have that the 4000 doesn't ????

Don't hold your breath waiting for an email answer form Olympus! You'll get faster results by calling them.

I bet
I cant call ,because I gave up the home phone 5 years ago
puter is on cable and work gives me a free cell

I did find c4000 for as low as 179.95
and about 4 pages of refurbs on ebay

I think I may just buy a c4000 and then if Olympus will fix mine cheep (yeh right ) will have a 4000 for back up

I thank all of you for the help
