I just purchased a Sealife DC1000. After taking out of the packaging and playing with it a bit, I put it in the housing and noticed that most of the 'directional' buttons at the bottom do not seem to depress when you're pressing the buttons on the housing.

The only one that works is the 'up' button and the middle button. The rest do not depress no matter how hard I press them. I've triple checked that the camera was in the housing correctly.

Anybody seen this (or have a quick fix, we're going diving very soon)?

I read this is a common problem, apparently it's an issue that customer service can take care of. The buttons on mine take a concerted effort to depress.

We did a dive yesterday and some of them appear to (barely) start working at around 25 feet or so.

I think the rubber bumpers (piston pads - dunno what to call them) are about a 1/2 mm too thin. I just cut some thin plastic and shoved it in the rubber bumpers and its primo! It didnt seem worth the effort to send back and forth to warranty it.
