So i just got my sony nex-5 and took it underwater today, 18-55mm lens and without strobe, getting one next week.
It was on manual mode and shutter was usually around 1/50 and 1/60 Aperture around F4-6 ish.

any tips would be great :)

Nice job getting so close to your subjects :)

My first thought when I saw your settings was that your shutter is too slow. Any tiny movement is going to show at those speeds and your images won't be as crisp as they could be. I'd jump up to 1/100+ personally.

Are you shooting RAW? If not, do. You'll be able to have a tweak of white balance, in particular, with RAW that you won't quite get with a jpeg.

Have fun with your new toys and get out there and dive! Don't forget to hop into the Australia area and pop your dive report and/or photos into the new monthly thread -> Feb 2012
