Is this a good buy for the first underwater camera set?

Hi,

I have no experience in underwater photography, but want to get my feet wet in this area. I just saw the package advertised on B&H. Is this a good deal and a decent set up? Any comments are appreciated.

It's a pretty good choice, and you can probably take excellent photos with it, but the G1X has been slightly disappointing due to poor macro abilities and mediocre auto focusing. You will need an additional macro lens to get good macro shots with it.
The G16 package has been the most popular one for 2014, both camera and housing are fantastic - Canon G16 Underwater Camera and Housing by Fantasea
