That’s right!!! The 2nd annual Dive Challenge is here. The Saline County Search & Rescue Team and Saline County Sheriff’s office will host the largest public safety diver conference and skill evaluation in Arkansas. The conference is held to improve skills and provide information on up to date equipment. We offer “hands-on” learning and invite speakers from all over the county to share their knowledge and experiences.
This year we’re really going to test your skills. Bring your teams and prove how ready your really are for those emergencies. Test your agility, or how quickly you can assemble your equipment; your investigating skills, command and control of scenes and more.
The events will be a Full Team Event. These events will require the team to overcome all obstacles, testing each member’s individual tenacity, fitness levels and endurance, while also testing the TEAM Sprit, Camaraderie, and Teammate Support.
This year’s classes will include full face mask, underwater communications devices, scuba equipment, lift bags products, dry suit usage. Our famous raffle is held Saturday night after a superb meal and guest speaker. We will raffle all kinds of dive items generously donated by leading dive equipment manufactures and local dive centers.
Sheriff Phil Mask and the Saline County Search and Rescue Team are proud to sponsor the 2nd annual PUBLIC SAFETY DIVE TEAM SKILLS CHALLENGE held May 6-7th, 2006 at Hot Springs Village, Hot Springs, Arkansas.
The Saline County area has experienced a dramatic increase in water related recreational activities. All waterways have increased its water activities with boating, swimmers, divers, skiers and more with other areas developing water lakes for the community to enjoy. As a result, we have experienced an increase in water related accidents. In an effort to better serve and protect our citizens, the Saline County Sheriff’s department have implemented, equipped and trained an underwater search and recovery team.
The Public Safety Dive Team Skills Challenge has been designed to test the search and rescue skills of these recovery teams. The challenge course consist of multiple separate search and recovery skills including; vehicle recoveries, drowning victims, boating accidents, evidence recovery, weapons recovery and scuba accident investigations. The skills being evaluated in this challenge have been designed around water related search and recovery incidents.
Sounds like fun, right? Just think what you will learn not only by watching, but participating with other teams. You could pick up on some new techniques or even offer a few of your own.
Registration is open to all public safety agencies. The cost for the Dive Challenge is $350 per team and $25 per team diver. Pre-registration is required to participate and entries are to be in no later than March 1, 2006 with full payment no later than April 1, 2006.
