Would it be the first diving pier? What do all of you think. It could be put in the Sunny.org web site.

I think that's actually a great idea. Think of all the sand your gear would avoid and you could solve the LBTS parking issues and needing all those quarters to feed the meters as well.

We were out snorkeling near the pier at LBTS Saturday and Sunday. There is a lot more junk in the water since the pier has opened up for fishing again. There are fishing lines everywhere you look. It's really disappointing.

A lot of divers are fisherman. Pier fishermen are a different breed. If a boat trolls too close to "their Pier" they will start throwing sinkers at it.

Hey, if you're looking to meet interesting single guys, head out to the pier some friday night, there's lots of interesting single guys out there .

The odds are good. but the goods are odd.

I've had readings of 75 degrees the 3 times I went out this week.

I'm a fisherman who dives, and I absolutely agree, pier fishermen are a different breed.

I'm also sorry you had such a bad experience sperbonzo.

With that said, the reason they do get angry is because they have limited access to productive areas. They cannot go past the pier and it is a fishing pier. Boaters and divers have the proverbial "whole ocean" to enjoy.

I do not condone throwing sinkers at boats or trying to hook a diver, but we feel the same way when a boat gets too close to a dive flag.

Sounds familiar! Last time Jenny and I were out we ventured too close and they hooked my flag and dragged me to the surface before I could even let out line. Good thing we were shallow.

the sad thing is, in all the dives I have done, I don't think there has been a shortage of the local fish. they certainly don't seem too skittish around divers. so they fishermen are over-reacting, thinking they are going to lose that one great catch just because the divers are swimming in the area.

The two just don't mix. You have divers and hundreds of hooks in the water, in a small area.

It's not us versus them. I avidly fish AND dive. It's the typical BS that has made its presence so well known in my native South Florida, whether it's on the ocean, at Publix, or on I-95.
