If you contact the police you will probably get a reply along the lines of "What the hell were you doing diving around the pier?" If the marine patrol catches you, you'll probably get a ticket.

I'm looking at Ray Mcallisters Beach diving book ,under regulations for LBTS he has "MUST use a dive flag, MUST stay 100 yds from pier" emphasis his.

From LBTS tourist website under scuba diving:

If you dive or snorkel our reefs, remember to exercise caution by always avoiding diving or swimming near Anglin's Pier at Commercial Boulevard.

While I think the angler's actions were despicable, I have to echo what is being said: you need to avoid the pier at all costs. It is really dangerous for divers to be under there while the anglers are casting and reeling in and fighting fishes.

During one of my very first beach dives down here, waaaay back in the dark ages (circa 1981), me and my pals drifted under that pier and boy did we get yelled at. But what was worse was drifting by baited hooks and ugh, yuck, lots of dead fish heads and other nasty icky things that could have gotten all over my pretty pink dive gear. I simply realized how dangerous it was and never dove under a pier again...except for Reef Sweep where I bring back enough lead weights to supply my fishing club until the following year.

That @$$hole fisherman inadvertently did all of us a favor by getting us to talk about the dangers of diving under a pier that is actively being fished. You can bet that nobody who has read this thread will ever do it again.
