i'm going to provo next week (thurs) and and would like to get my girlfriend certified. she would like to do her checkout dives with me (course and pool dives would be done here in nyc), so i called the dive ops (turtle and dive provo) and asked if that was possible.
both shops said no. does anyone know of any ops that will do this down there?
Assuming you are an instructor, the dilemna lies in the legal system there, which prohibits non-registered instructors from teaching anywhere in the T & C. Hence only instructors who are employed by the local dive centers can actually provide any instruction.
We rely on a bit of creativity to circumvent that and accomplish our training dives when in country, but they officially are not happening there.
