I thought I would head down to Lake Rawlings on Sunday, February 20th for a couple of tanks of diving. I really need to get out in that drysuit of mine this year and thought some of y'all might like to join me. I figured we could meet up around 10:00am and do a couple of dives. I'll even bring my grill so we grill up some dogs or something for lunch. I'll also throw this out to the NC Wreckdivers group and see if anyone from down there would like to meet up. I've always enjoyed Rawlings this time of year, not crowded and easy to get around. Let me know if you're interested, I can also make arrangements for tanks if someone needs them.

Have you called to reserve this date, since Lake Rawlings is only open by appointment only.
Off-Season
November 16, 2004 through March 14, 2005.
Visits during the off-season are available by appointment only.
Qualified scuba instructors and certified divers can make a reservation to dive by calling (800) 583-3781 whenever Lake Rawlings is not open. The gate key will be available most weekdays and weekends. Divers must leave their c-card and a $10.00 deposit with the caretaker until the key is returned.
I may be interested in diving but I only have a 7mm. I did 2 dives in 45 degrees/20 min and 44 degrees/30 min in January at Millbrook Lake in Northern VA with my 7mm and hood. If the outside temp is in the 40's at least, I may go. Hopefully the water temp won't be any lower than 44 degrees because that is about my limit. You don't have to worry about tanks for me because I can get them from my local shop.

Last year when I went about this time the temps were in the mid 40's, but I really don't know what they will be this weekend. Maybe someone else in the boards have been there and can clue us in. I am setting up the appointment for Noon if the weather is clear (I don't want to go in the rain or snow, been there and done that). Hope to see you!!

It looks like I will be heading up to the slopes at Whitetail on Sunday, so I probably won't be going to Lake Rawlings. Here's the current forecast for Sunday 2/20 for Rawlings, VA [Rain and snow showers. Highs in the upper 40s and lows in the mid 30s.]
