My brother, son and I are interested in diving at Tobermory.
But since it's our first time going there, I be interested in finding out your opinion if you've dive there before.
Specifically:
What's a good motel/hotel stay ?
Who's a good dive charter ?
Any mention of approximate pricing would be great...
We always use G&S Watersports and we always request their boat with the lift in the back, the Joseph Simon. That's my favorite dive boat of all time!
We stay at the Harborside Motel. When you're at Tobermory you can only park around the docks for a couple hours. That means if you're boat diving you have to drop your gear off and go park your car at one of the municipal lots or at your hotel. The Harborside Motel is easy walking distance to the dive boats. We drive our gear to the boat, drop it off then return to the hotel and walk back to the boat. Harborside is also affiliated with the glass bottom boat tours and I believe there's some sort of discount on the tour if you stay at the hotel.
There are only two dive operators in Tobermory and you won't go wrong with either of them. I like G&S because the Joseph Simon is such a pleasure to dive off of.
