The Oil Rigs are a unique type of dive. They start with a "live boat" drop off right next to the rigs. You are then free to swim about the Oil Rig underwater structure and are likely to see large bait balls, the occasional Mola Mola and mind-blowing numbers of invertebrates which are attached to the rigs themselves. There are three rigs: Eureka, Ellen, and Elly. Each one offers quite a different underwater personality.
The trip is on the Sea Bass Boat, out of San Pedro
Advanced certification is required, due to the depth of the site
Gas prices are up and that affects everything around us.
IMO, the Sea Bass is a nice boat, great crew, good lunch and they show you a good time. They also have Nitrox onboard for $20 for the whole day. To me it's worth the money to have some care free diving.
When we book the Spectre, it's $90.00 and it does not include food or air fills, so it works out about the same.
There's always beach diving for a $3.00 air fill........
imo the sea bass rig trips are overpriced...many local island trips are cheaper!
I've been on 2 Seabass oil rig trips this year and I can recommend them highly. As far as cost, some of the island trips charge less if air and food is separate. That way you can bring a bag lunch and cut a few bucks off for food. You also have to factor in the fact that the Seabass runs at 18 kts and you get out to the rigs in under an hour. I'd be interested in what island trips are "cheaper."

The Sea Bass has a great crew, provides a unique diving experience, and gets me home in time to rinse my gear and take my wife out for dinner and a movie. I like it.
Bummer, wish I could go!!! I love diving the rigs. The Sea Bass is GREAT!!! Tell Andrew and Richard I say 'Hello'.
