I posted this in the Florida forum as well but I'm looking for Fort Lauderdale instructor recommendations for spearing on scuba (as opposed to free diving). Anyone have any suggestions?

I don't know of anyone in that area running regular classes for groups. But to really gain the most knowledge and give you results, it would need to be more one on one instruction. This would be a private divemaster who spearfishes. They are going to watch you & teach you different things underwater like body position, stalking and shot placement.

One of the best in that area is my friend Chiefy. He is very well known among us hunters and a stellar reputation. He written a book called "Catching the Spear-it" that you should get now so you will be prepared when you hit the water. He dives regularly with Dixie Divers on their Lady Go Diver boat.

I don't know what his terms are, but I can guarantee that you consistently will be putting quality fish in the cooler to take home after diving with him, rather than missing shots and coming back to the dock empty handed and frustrated. This is one of those times, that a small investment will yield years of payback. Tell him I sent you.

His website for contact & ordering is :
