    DX-1G strobe

    Hello everybody.

Having flooded, after 20 years my nikonos V and my 15mm/2.8 UW wide angle lens, and since the repair expenses are exorbitant, I am thinking going Digital.

I am looking buying S&SDX-1G complete with Wide Angle and Strobe.

I was advised that the current strobes, particularly the YS-110 which I was looking into, are not synchronized due to the different protocols on the camera and strobe.
"They do not work together, and cannot be guaranteed that the flash will fire each time it is triggered. A new version coming out has different protocols and should fire each time"
    A) Is this a correct statement?
    B) Anybody knows when the new corrected strobe is expected to come out?
    c) Is the strobe NIKONOS SB-105 bracket and cable, that I have from my previous flooded set compatible with Sea&Sea DX-1G camera and housing and TTL synchronized function?
I understand that the DX-1G has two 5 pin sockets for strobe cables and the Nikonos SB-105 has also 5 pin. Has anybody tried successfully this combination?
    Any comments welcome.

I own the DX-1G and am very pleased with it. To answer your questions, there have been reported problems with the YS-110; however, I have not had a problem with them. Here is a link to the discussion with replies from Sea&Sea http://www.scubaboard.com/forums/sea...g-housing.html. Here is a link written by Stephen Frink on the DX-1g Digital Immersions: Beyond Point-and-Shoot: Sea and Sea DX-1G in PNG. Last for results with the DX-1G click on "my gallery" and then selct my Galapagos folder also, here is a link to pics taken by Eskasi with the DX-1G Sea & Sea DX-1G in Sipadan, Mabul & Kapalai (Malaysia).

Regarding your statement about 5 pin connections for the strobes, the Sea&Sea DX-1g housing allows for two fiber optic cables for strobes not the 5 pin connectors. Hope this answers your questions. If you have any other questions, feel free to contact me at jamescrew6@verizon.net

    Regards,

    Bill
