Identification of Shipwrecks off the Coast of Cozumel

My brother and I discovered, don't think we were the first, 5 cannons and a pile of ballast rock of the windward coast of Cozumel...Does anyone know how we would go about identifying the name of the ship that went down there? Mexican authorities are not investigating these wrecks due to the fact there are too many artifacts, Mayan...etc...., and not enough people or $ to do it. Thanks, Jim

The cannons would be a good place to start, there are books that would let you identify country and approx time period.

Check with the local museum, someone there can probably give you a lead
It took me years at sea to realize, it wasn't the ocean I liked, it was the coast.
