Many have heard about the near disaster caused when the container ship Rena hit the Astrolabe reef near Tauranga - New Zealand.
Oil spills and environmental damage have been repeatedly on the news, as has been the cleanup and salvage processes.

What is now becoming an issue, is what's to be done with the ship itself.
the weather taking its toll, has torn the ship in half, with the stern section having sunk to a depth of nearly meters.

NZUA, is working on behalf of divers worldwidein an attempt to keep the wreck in the water, and have a dive destination for a wide variety of divers, due to the angle which the ship sits (from about 8m to 65m).
