Hey! Experienced diver thinking about going on first fossil search lately. Live near Savannah and have been looking close by. I have been thinking going down Edisto River. Supposed to be a fair area to find teeth and fossils. Any one got any suggestions for me? Any other places? Or possibly best place to go on Edisto? Looking to go soon!!!

Hello J. I live close to the Edisto and try to dive it as much as I can. I have dove the Cooper and the Wando many times and find the Edisto to be easier. Diving rivers is significantly different than diving blue water. The rivers in Savannah are "total blackness" diving. I have also heard you should prepare to get bumped by large critters. The easiest shark took diving that I am aware of (and have done many times) is offshore Venice Florida. Its a very easy 20 foot dive in water with lots of light. Another place that may work for you is down river from Ginnie Springs. There use to be divers finding teeth there. Offshore Wilmington is Meg Ledge. A 100' deep spot for experienced fossil divers.
