With the legal battle over the rights to images of Blackbeard's sunken flagship intensifying, lawmakers waded into the fray by taking up legislation aimed at a shipwreck-exploration company suing the state for $8 million. "In Intersal's opinion, this bill is a blatant attempt to undercut both our contract in the settlement agreement as well as our legal action," said John Masters, chairman of the board of Intersal. "Intersal will amend our filing to address this and await further developments."

The odds are stacked against the company on this one. Their reason for the lawsuit are flimsy at best and they cannot expect the state to compensate them on a wreck that as of now the state legally owns and has entitlement to the pictures that the company willingly shared. They are just sore because the big debut was a failure.
