My dive buddy and I are planning a dive trip to Port Hardy June 25 - 27. If we can find a couple of more divers that is. North Island Dive & Charter charges $200 for a 2 dive day with 2 divers, but only $100 per day with 4. We intend to dive Browning Wall, Hunt Rock, etc..

We are flexible as to which days we dive Fri, Sat, Sun or preferably all 3 days.
So if anyone is interested in diving that weekend, please PM me.
Hope to talk to some of you soon.....

Well, it looks like North Island can't do Friday. My buddy and I still plan to dive with them on Sat 26th and Sunday 27th of June. With 2 more divers the charter charge is $100 per day, per diver. Anybody interested??? Please PM me if you are. I believe that decent accomodations can be found for less than $100 per night in PH. The weekend would cost $400 per diver with shared accomodation (before food and drink). This would make for an economical trip to Port Hardy when compared to what local dive shops charge in Vancouver ($900 +). As you probably already know Port Hardy is one of the premier dive locations in the world....It must not be missed!!
Hope to hear from somebody soon.... (we don't bite)...

Couldn't make it a week later could you? Our dive club will be camping at Telegraph Cove and a couple of us want to do Browning.

I'm not really familiar with the sites -- how would you classify them in terms of required skill to safely dive and enjoy?

I actually haven't been there myself. I would say that we would go deeper than 80 feet but probably not deeper that 110' (definately within recreational limits). We may be diving Nitrox too which will limit us appropriately. My buddy and I are conservative divers and not driven by risk. I'll see if I can find some dive descriptions that include difficulty ratings, but I would assume that you will need an advanced cert and an intermediate skill level (say 20+ dives) to take advantage of the area.

Cold water...Current...but other than that...with a good boat captain...Pretty straight forward dives.
Browning Wall is deep (IIRC ~200ft)...but most people tend to stick around 60-80ft and let the current push/pull them around.
Hunt Rock has some Wolf Eels..again if you are familiar with cold water diving..its very straight forward. (again...if you have a good boat captain....99% of the dives up there...current/tides plays some factor. So If your a bit late/early can be the difference between a nice easy dive to a dive from he||
Men are like a fine wine. They start out as grapes, and it's up to women to stomp the crap out of them until they turn into something acceptable to have dinner with.
No takers (yet). If anyone would like to go there are 4 spaces available. If I don't hear anything by Tuesday June 23 I'm going to call it off, as I can't afford to foot the bill on the whole charter myself.
Soooo, if anyone is interested a two dive day will be $100 each per day up in Port Hardy, let me know via PM or Post. I have found hotel rooms and B&B's for $80 - $100 per night. Overall an inexpensive weekend of diving in one of the best spots in this here big blue ball.

I had to call off the trip to PH today. Fortunatly with some quick dialing I arranged 4 days of diving on the sunshine coast. :59: A mix of shore and charter boat (I always wanted to make it up to Powell River). PH will just have to wait for another time.
