I was wondering if the Edmund Fitzgerald had ever been visited by anyone using scuba? And if so does anyone have info on the dive?

I heard from a couple different people that a pair of trimix divers reached it in 1995 and they got thrown in jail for it in a Canada.

Terrence Tysall and Mike Zee dove the Fitz in 1995. They upset some people but didn't end up in jail. Do a search on scuba board as we have discussed this before all the links will be on the previous messages.

but I was under the impression that diving was prohibited on the Fitz.

I know I should have searched but I'm off to bed in a couple of minutes.

Their dive is what caused it to be illegal to dive the Fitz:)

So why has it become illigal to dive it

How deep is it

530' is done on a fairly regular basis. I think it has more to do with treating it as a grave site. It didn't go down all that long ago and there are many living kin of the crew who went down with her.
