There is still some charters going to the Doria between June and Sept. The weather being the Biggest problem getting there. The Doria has deteriorated a lot in the past 5 years or so by the way.

Joel Silverstein got a trip plan July 22-25 th check his web-site.

My understanding is that divers still go there but probably not in quite the same numbers that did in the mid to late 90's. It's an expensive trip and a stagnant economy has an effect on the number of divers who want to pony up the bucks to go.

Plus with everything from Gimbles Hole upward sloughing off to the bottom, it does not have quite the same majesty as before. I had always wanted to go in large part to swim along the promenade deck and generally survey the exterior of the wreck. That has a lot less appeal now. But on the other hand, the wreck now probably has more readily accessible china and more exposed bits and pieces to look at.

As someone already mentioned the condition of the Doria had changed dramatically in the past 5 yrs. The past 2 years trips have been light. The Seeker had a string of accidents (5 deaths) in 01 or 02 and the main issue no is the liability of getting people out there, captains no longer want to risk it. Weather is a big issue too. In all honesty cost is not really a factor, yeah it’s expensive about 900 to 1200 depending on who you go with, but there are always dive drooling to dive her.

The bow has actually cracked and there is a 15ft gap that was never there. Gimbles hole is basically non penetrable.

But to answer first question, it's still dived.

Capt. Zero's CAPTAIN JACK I understand has charters to Doria this summer.
I have spoken to the capt of the LOCKNESS who indicates he has gotten numerous calls for his two trips to Doria this summer.
Havn't seen or spoken to Capt Klein of Eagle's Nest but he does a trip also.

i just finished reading a book on the Andrea Doria and am wondering if the Seeker still runs charters out to it.

thanks

possibly... daniel crowell and jennifer samulski used to operate the Seeker as part of their company, deep explorers inc., and their page shows that it is "under
construction."

they have some contact info, so if you contact them and find out, i'd love to know
the answer.

I don't think they are running them anymore, as a matter of fact, I heard he is selling the Seeker.

yup, looks like they are trying to sell it. thanks for the link.

that boat is kind of like a piece of diving history, though...
