The biggest down fall of steel is the initial price. I dive Steel HP120 with my drysuit, 7mm (well not in since I got the Drysuit) 3mm occasionally. No problems with being over weighted.

Locally I dive Steel 120s and love them. When I'm on the road, I take what i can get which is usually a Al80.

Just for the record, not all steel tanks are negative when empty. Anyone might be reading this and thinking that they can't use steel tanks because they dive in warm water should investigate low pressure steel tanks. Worthington in particular comes to mind, but I'm sure that there are some others that are very close to neutral when empty.

Thanks guys for the responses! I guess the main point is that I'm definately not going to take the tanks on any plane!

Anywhere I'm going to drive to dive the steel should be great!

I'm thinking of getting 2 HP-80's and 2 HP-100's. My GF and I dive together and it seems that the combination of the two sizes should make for the optimal mix and match depending on the dive. What do you guys think about that concept?

Thanks.

That's quite similar to what we have and it has been flexible in many ways.

If it does not work out I'd gladly meet you at the Hampton NH toll to take them off your hands. :D

Well, that makes me feel much better knowing you would be willing to take them! I'll be sure to let you know how I make out! :rofl3:

I just got an HP steel 80. I am thinking I can drop about five pounds from my weight pockets. Does this sound like a reasonable amount? I'm a slim female.
