We should have all skipped out of work/school and drove up to Alex Bay to dive the Islander!!

I don't mind the cold water as long as I can be warm before and after the dive. :D

Yeah, yesterday was nice, but I'm generally bummed about the overall lack of diving.

Do you know of anywhere close by that's good for a quick dip (regardless of temperature)?

Close??

Webster Park, but you won't be able to see your hand in front of your face.

right now, I'm sure the vis sucks everywhere. Runoff from the Snow melting.

I can get to Sherkston Quarry in Ontario Canada in an hour and a half.
I can make Alex Bay in 3 hours.
Niagara River at Isleview park about an hour and 15.

Deep Run Park is supposedly off limits now. To bad. I could be there in an hour.:(

That's what I figured.

You'd think there would be somewhere closer, given that we are sitting right on the lake.

I've been using Windmill Point Park for training purposes. It's close to Sherkston, but I like it better. I like to think there is slightly less E. Coli there, but I'm probably wrong.

I've been to Windmill Point. I like Sherkston better. Have you seen the Locomotives and the Pumphouse??

A few years back a freind of mine lived on Lake Ontario. My son and I thought we'd check it out. We dived from his front yard. We figured we'd use 1/2 our air going out and if we ran short we'd have a short surface swim on the way back. My son had a 120 cu ft tank. I had a 104. We took a float and flag as there was a few fishing boats out. After we came back, my wife said the flag was waaaaay out there. We saw a fish or two, a piece of old rusted pipe and a couple of rocks. :11: Our max depth was only 18'!!!! :shakehead:

Yeah, you can dive it.............but why would you want to?? :(

My freind no longer lives there. Even if he did, I think I'd drive an hour or more before diving there again.

PS. nice profile pic!! where is that??

Yes, I've seen all the stuff at Sherkston. I must be going at the wrong time of year, because the vis always seems to be super-crappy.

So, there probably aren't any great shore diving oportunities in the lake then!

Glad you like the profile pic. If you look closely, you can see my wife turning the corner in front of me. This was at Carwash near Tulum, Mexico.

Sherkston isn't bad in the Spring. As the water warms up and the Algae grows the vis gets worse.
Of course...........when you're with students, all it takes is a couple of missplaced fin kicks and everything disapears!! :D It's a great place for practicing navigation!!
