For those of you who are putting p-valves in your Fusions, what are you doing about the skin? Putting a hole in it or not? If so, how are you finishing or binding the edges of the hole?

It's lycra, right? How about looking at the existing seams on the skin and try and duplicate that binding chain stitch that's used on lycra garments around the edge of the hole, like making a buttonhole (requires sewing machine I'd think).

Or, sewing an edge tape once you'd made the hole, and use elastic thread so the whole thing can still stretch.

I saw the Fusion at the BTS yesterday and was thinking of the same thing. Certainly looked a bit trickier. What about burning?

P.S. Which P-valve are you thinking about?

As much as I hate to say it, I'm considering the Halcyon balanced.

Lynne,

I cut a small hole in it when positioning my p-valve. I intended to clean it up with a soldering iron, but haven't done so. Works fine.

No need for the H balanced, get a salvo balanced and be done with it. Matt and Dan have experience installing on the Fusion at this point.

She-P, huh?

Hi Lynne,

I put a H balanced valve on my Fusion, and I haven't cut a hole in the skin at all yet. I was debating the best way to finish the hole, but I discovered that I can easily open/close the valve through the skin, and may just leave it as-is.

Hate to say it, but the H is nicer than the Salvo.

Yeah but, twice the price and I have many many dives on the Salvo with no issues . . .

I don't doubt that the Salvo works nicely, but especially with the tight skin of the Fusion making donning a little trickier, not having the extra hose and balance valve is a big plus for the H valve to me.
